For an entire surface of soil to be removed even a couple of inches for the area that artificial turf is to be installed, then filled with a porous and pliable sand / compacted concrete screening base, this offers a “french drain” of sorts that can help absorb surface area water. Again, this is a plus or benefit for those with damp ground or persistently wet ground or muddy areas as the removal of soil to prepare for the installation of the base material is one immediate improvement in the drainability of the surface of the property. The installation of the turf on top of the sand / concrete screening base, brings the clean and greatly reduced maintenance needs to that same spot as well.
